 Leland Ashby, AIA, Principal        Top of Page

 Mr. Ashby received his Bachelor of Architecture Degree in 1974 from California Polytechnic University, where he was a member of the Scarab Honorary Architectural Society. His education included a year of architectural studies in Florence, Italy.

Before joining Hoover Associates in 1986, Mr. Ashby was Vice President of Ashby Metal Products where he was responsible for fabrication and erection of all structural steel for the San Francisco International Airport Central Terminal renovation, San Francisco Cable Car renovation, and the Oakland Airport Terminal II. 

As Principal In Charge at Hoover Associates, he has participated in and been responsible to over 5,000,000 square feet of architectural design and construction. These projects range from office development to corporate facilities, athletic buildings to assisted living structures, naval tactical complexes and union training facilities. Seaport Centre, Quantum, Bishop Ranch, Alza, Crossroads, Quadrus for the Kaiser Family Foundation, and Stanford Alumni Center are examples. His diversity of experience in design, building types, and constructability issues provides the knowledge for creative solutions.

Mr. Ashby holds a professional registration in California, and licenses as a general building contractor and general engineering contractor.  His professional affiliations have included the American Institute of Architects, American Institute of Steel Construction, Associated General Contractors, and the Building Industry of America.


Richard Campbell, AIA, Principal     Top of Page

Mr. Campbell received his Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1960 from Iowa State University, where he was a recipient of the American Institute of Architect School Medal. Upon graduation he was commissioned into the Civil Engineer Corps, United States Navy, and was subsequently assigned to the Staff of the District Public Works Office, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. In this capacity, Lt. Campbell’s primary responsibilities consisted of contract administration and program management for military construction projects throughout the Pacific area. Project diversity ranged form the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial to hospitals and schools in American Somoa.

Before joining Hoover Associates in 1984, Mr. Campbell was associated for twenty years with the San Francisco architectural firm of Reid and Tarics Associates.  He was named an Associate of that firm in 1968, a principal in 1969 and Vice President in 1972.  His experience has been primarily in the design of educational facilities, research and development facilities, and medical facilities.  In addition, his training and experience on Critical Path Scheduling while in the Navy has contributed to the development of comprehensive project management techniques which have proven very effective in bringing projects in on time and within budget.

Mr. Campbell is a registered architect in California, and holds a certificate from the National Council Architectural Registrations Boards.

Jeana Monroe, Director of Interior Design   Top of Page

Jeana Monroe has over fifteen years experience as director of interior design contracts and as a team member on major architectural projects.  Ms. Monroe’s experience is very comprehensive and ranges from pre-project planning, programming, space planning, design, and construction documents to finishes, furniture selections and on-site supervision.

Ms. Monroe’s ability to direct her staff while managing several concurrent projects, combined with her attention to detail and excellent communication skills have proven invaluable to the projects she has led.  She is able to quickly discern the needs of her clients and translate them into practical solutions. She is very adept at facilitating meetings for client groups throughout the project process to develop goals, build consensus, and maximize the benefits to all involved.
